About Diana
Registered dietitian &
Nutrition Coach
Hi, I’m Diana Fransis!
I used to have a love-hate relationship with food.
Growing up in a Middle Eastern family, food was always the center of our gatherings. I loved connecting with my loved ones over delicious meals.
But I feared not being able to count the calories or macros in every dish. I became anxious eating food that I couldn’t “log.”
I also used to struggle with body image. When I got into field hockey, I lost weight. I liked my new body better than my old one. I started dieting to try to stay as thin as possible. I compared my body to everyone else.
My ideas around food and my body were shaped by the world around me. When I started my training to become a registered dietitian, I realized something:
“We receive so many harmful, untrue messages about food and our bodies.”
For example: One professor in college declared that “if you can pinch the sides of your back, that means you have excess fat on your body.” (NOT true or helpful, by the way.)
Another example: My well-meaning doctor told me I gained too much weight during each of my three pregnancies and suggested I go “low carb” — even though the babies and I were perfectly healthy. It was just about size.
Comments like these, especially from “professionals,” are harmful to our thoughts, our confidence, and how we look at food.
Luckily, with my background in nutrition, I realized that my relationship with food and my body wasn’t healthy.
I wanted it to end!
I began to change my mindset about my body.
I saw how strong it was for bringing three beautiful humans into the world. It made me sick to imagine my children ever talking to themselves the way I had been.
I started eating more and making myself a priority.
I made sure my meals included ALL food groups — instead of restricting crucial nutrients that my body needs to thrive.
I focused on adding nutrition, not removing it.
And I learned to see movement as more than just a way to change my body.
Now, I enjoy cooking with my kids. It’s a way to teach them about food and spend quality time with them. I focus on family and embrace the beautiful cultural food we make together.
My passion is to help you reach your goals, gain confidence in your body, and reconnect with your passion for food.
